(via facebook page):
There will be a vote of no-confidence in Mark Yudof and the UC Regents.
Last week we turned in 110 petitions with 2350 signatures to the ASUCD Elections Committee to ask for a special vote of no-confidence. They spent a week verifying our signatures, and we did it. We have more than enough support to call for an official vote.
In the long history of the University of California, students have never called for a campus-wide confidence vote in the leadership of the University. The fact that we will be voting on this next week speaks volumes about the frustration that students and their parents feel right now. Tuition is projected to rise even as California restores funding. It is projected to rise despite the fact that UC is cutting instruction and related programs.
The vote will be next Wednesday and Thursday (26th and 27th), and you can vote at elections.ucdavis.edu
This week at UC Davis there will be several events that are definitely worth attending if you would like to get involved or just want to learn more about what’s going on. Starting tonight there will be a “Rave Against the Regents” – an all night dance party – on the Quad. The music and dancing will start at sunset and continue all night long.
Tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6pm, several UCD sports teams are putting on a forum to talk about the cuts to athletics. The Administration made the cuts without the correct information. For more info, check out http://www.saveucdsports.com
The Regents are meeting this week @ UCSF Mission Bay, and while they are not expected to make any controversial decisions (that is scheduled to happen in July, when we’re not in school) a lot of people are going to the meeting on Thursday to protest the decisions that have already been made, and to voice disagreement with many of the proposals that have been put forward.
If you would like to go to the meeting on Thursday, there will be busses leaving in the morning. If you want to go (it’s free) sign up here: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AhjnfpDaE_MJdEZDYklBSHZWTkZqalRIS0hMTVZkNWc&hl=en
