On Saturday, January 29, 2011, the Joint Council of the UAW Local 2865 convened to address new issues after a hectic, historic, and allegedly corrupt vote. During the meeting, it was found out that there is a revolution brewing within the Local, as some members of the AWDU caucus raised a number of concerns that unavoidably fell during the voting sessions, given that the current structure of the leadership is dominated by UAW paid staffers (some of which are not even graduate students). (Read Ratification Vote Protest).
Elsewhere, concerns have been raised about this misrepresentation and debate has begun surrounding reform. (Read Cheryl Deutsch’s Open Letter to the Joint Council).
It seems like the grads are not taking it any longer.
